317L Stainless Steel GTAW (TIG) Welding Alloy

TIG (GTAW) | 317LT30

317L stainless steel GTAW (TIG) welding alloy 1/16 X 36 X 10lb package

DETAILS

317L stainless steel GTAW (TIG) welding alloy content is somewhat higher than ER316, particularly in molybdenum. The 0.03% maximum carbon content increases resistance to intergranular corrosion due to carbide precipitation. 317L provides severe corrosion resistance to sulfuric and sulfurous acids and their salts. This alloy is often used in the chemical and paper industries. Conforms to AWS A5.9 ER 317L.

Features

  • Stainless steel 317 TIG welding rod is a high alloyed molybdenum-bearing stainless steel with .03% max. carbon content
  • Welds molybdenum-bearing alloys
  • Lower carbon content (.03% max.) resists carbide precipitation that can cause weld corrosion
  • 87,000 psi tensile strength (as welded)
  • 55,000 psi yield strength (as welded)
  • 47% elongation; 70% reduction of area (as welded)
  • 85 HRB Rockwell B hardness (as welded)
  • 160 HB Brinell hardness (as welded)
  • 105 ft./lb. @ room temperature Charpy V (as welded)
  • Conforms to ANSI/AWS A5.9 & ASME SFA 5.9 ER 317L
