DETAILS

Stay-Silv® 5HP is a medium melting range silver brazing alloy designed for joining copper-to-copper and copper-to-brass. The alloy has a wider melting range suitable for joining loose connections. When heated above its liquidus, however, the alloy is fluid and suitable for connections with close fit-ups. Conforms to the EU Reach & RoHS directive.

Features

  • Medium-range alloy for brazing copper-to-copper and copper-to-brass
  • Brazing range of 1320 - 1500oF (716 - 816oC)
  • A frequent choice for brazing copper as it is self-fluxing
  • Flux not required for copper-copper brazing. For brazing brass Stay-Silv® white flux is suitable for most applications. Harris Eco Smart® boric acid free flux, powder or paste, is an excellent choice to promote sound brazed assemblies
  • Well suited where close fit-up cannot be maintained
  • Wide melting range allows the operator to fill loose connections
  • Corrosion resistance is generally similar to the copper base metal, but due to its phosphorus content should not be used if the braze is exposed to sulfur or sulfur compounds in service
  • Fluidity rating 4
  • Recommended joint clearance of 0.003 in. - 0.006 in. (0.08mm – 0.15mm)
  • Conforms to the EU Reach & RoHS directive
