DETAILS

ER70S-6 mild steel MIG (GMAW) alloy is a general-purpose welding alloy for fabrication of mild steel. It contains more deoxidizers than ER70S-3. The additional deoxidizers also provide better wetting, giving a flatter bead shape and the capability of faster travel speeds. Usually used with 75/25% Argon/Carbon Dioxide) shielding gas or with higher contents of Argon, such as 90/10%. It can also be used with 100% Carbon Dioxide.

  • General-purpose MIG (GMAW) welding alloy for fabrication of mild steel
  • Contains the highest combination of silicon and manganese as deoxidizers
  • The deoxidizers provide better wetting, giving a flatter bead shape and the capability of faster travel speeds
  • Permits high current welding with 100% Carbon Dioxide shielding gas or 75% Argon/25% Carbon Dioxide shielding gas
  • Good out-of-position welding using short circuiting transfer
  • Primarily used for multiple pass on steels where rusty and dirty surfaces are not cleaned before welding
  • Conforms to AISI/AWS A5.18 ER70S-6
