Aluminum Bronze A1 & A2

Aluminum bronze alloy GMAW (MIG)/GTAW (TIG) A1 is used to weld overlays for bearing and wear resistant surfaces, but is not recommended for joining. A2 is used for joining aluminum bronze base metals, welding brass, steel and dissimilar metals.

DETAILS

Aluminum Bronze (ALB-A1 and ALB-A2) copper-aluminum alloy is a versatile filler metal used for joining aluminum bronze base metals, welding brass, steel and a variety of dissimilar metals. It is iron-free and is often used to protect parts exposed to salt water and certain acidic conditions. This alloy is designed for welding overlays for bearings and wear resistant surfaces. ALB is available for both GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) welding processes.

Features

  • Designed to weld overlays for bearing and wear resistant surfaces.
  • It is iron free
  • Often used in marine hardware exposed to salt water and other acidic conditions
  • This strong and tough alloy provides exceptional corrosion and wear resistance
  • Not recommended for joining
  • Conforms to ANSI/AWS A5.7 & ASME SFA 5.7 ERCuAl-A1

Typical Applications

  • Overlays on shafts, propellers, housings, couplings, bushings, valve seats, pumps, and other surfaces needing a bronze wearing surface.
